Mart Fryberg was born on January 18, 1890, in Poznan, Poland. He was educated in Poland, and emigrated to Czechoslovakia in 1934. Fryberg came to the United States in 1939, where he was active as a composer of popular songs. He died in New York City on October 23, 1952.
