Charly Roncat was born in Bergenz, Vorarlberg, Germany. He began his career as a bandsman with the German Wehrmacht in 1942. In 1946, he began playing in the orchestra at the Landestheater in Bregenz. Later, he devoted his time to working as a popular musician and arranger.
