Erland von Koch, son of composer Sigurd von Koch, was born on April 26, 1910, in Stockholm, Sweden. He studied at the Stockholm Conservatory and privately with Clemens Krauss. He taught at the Stockholm Conservatory from 1935-1975 and was named professor there in 1968.
